Boosting Efficiency and Quality: Elliott Eggs & the GraderPro 400

In the scenic hills of Yorkshire, the Elliott family has been known for top-notch egg production for generations. Their brand, Elliott Eggs, has built a name for itself by providing fresh, high-quality eggs to their customers, with a focus on animal welfare.

A happy hen produces a tasty egg, according to Elliott Eggs' business philosophy, and they are certainly right. Wanting to step up their game, they aimed to improve their egg grading & packing operation to meet the highest standards, making it efficient and versatile at the same time. This led them to the SANOVO GraderPro 400.

Selecting the Best: Embracing the GraderPro 400

During a visit to see SANOVO's egg handling equipment, the Elliott Eggs team was impressed by the modern technology and strong capabilities they saw. "We’ve seen certain advantages of the GraderPro 400 versus other brands and chose the best available option" says Tom Elliott, who runs the operation at Elliott Eggs. They decided on the GraderPro 400 for its ability to handle eggs individually and the capacity that fit their business size just right.

Navigating Challenges & discovering the GraderPro's Potential

However, the journey wasn't smooth from the get-go. “After some teething issues during installation and with a better understanding now on how to operate the machine, the machine really started showing its worth”, says Tom Elliott. The GraderPro 400, with its compact loader design, became a key part of Elliott Eggs' grading operations. It helps them remove lower quality eggs via side exits early on in the process to keep the machine clean inside, and the separate cascades ensure that small problems can be fixed without stopping the entire machine and by that increasing machine uptime.

Upgrades to Productivity and Cleanliness

The improvement was clear and impressive. Moving from their old grader, which managed a lower capacity with around 230 cases per hour, the GraderPro 400 pushed their productivity to a notable 380 cases per hour. But it’s not only about capacity. The Clean-In-Place (CIP) system of the GraderPro 400 was another big plus, making the cleaning process much easier compared to their old grader which didn’t have this feature. The CIP system kept the main areas clean, helping a lot in maintaining cleanliness.

Meeting Production Goals and Prepared for the Future

Looking at their production goals, Tom mentions, “The performance of the GraderPro 400 aligns well with our current production levels. Our existing configuration has been effective, but there's potential for scaling up by adding more lanes to keep the grader at full capacity all the time.”

The collaboration between Elliott Eggs and SANOVO is a committed stride towards better egg grading efficiency. Their common journey showcases teamwork, innovation, and the potential for improved operations in egg grading & packing stations.

Key Role of Distribution Partner Newquip

The journey towards enhanced egg grading at Elliott Eggs was further facilitated by our United Kingdom distribution partner, Newquip. Their role in this project was crucial from the initial planning to the installation of the equipment, adding a layer of assurance and expertise that significantly contributed to improving egg grading operations at the site.
